Uptown Real Estate: New Developments Abound in the City Center
Revitalization projects giving Charlotte’s city center a complete makeover
The central business district of Charlotte and still colloquially known as “downtown,” Uptown real estate is further divided into four wards. Residential areas are primarily located in the First, Third, and Fourth Wards, while the Second Ward contains government offices. Home to skyscrapers as well as historical landmarks, the city center is currently undergoing a massive revitalization boom, in which new offices and residential buildings are being constructed, as well as many commercial and cultural projects. This revitalization has brought renewed attention to the areas previously perceived as “dangerous,” and nowadays Uptown real estate has become more desirable than ever.
The high concentration of banking and other financial facilities in the city center creates a booming economy that has enabled the area to thrive under a lively atmosphere. As a result, vibrant urban lifestyle is one of the strongest selling points of Uptown real estate. Residents are within walking distance to the many attractions featured in the city center, including Afro-American Cultural Center, Discovery Center, the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, the Carolina Panthers Stadium, as well as many, many bars, restaurants, and other entertainment venues. Third Ward is also undergoing a multitude of construction projects, and boasts Johnson & Wales University. Fourth Ward, where the most residential areas are located, contains some of the most beautiful Victorian homes as well as newly developed high-rise condos.
